India wins 2nd Medal in London Olympics - Vijay Kumar Vijay Kumar wins silver medal in Pistol shooter

  • Kumar hails from Harsour village of Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh and is presently serving as subedar in the Indian Army.
  • Army marksman Vijay Kumar gave India the second medal from the Royal Artillery Barracks winning the silver in the men's 25 metre rapid fire pistol event of the 2012 London Olympics
  • The 35-year-old hit 34 of the 40 targets to finish ahead of Vijay Kumar of India in second with 30. Feng Ding of China was third on 27 before being eliminated after 35 shots.
  • Vijay is also the second Indian after double trap shooter
  • The event is Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol. Vijay Kumar had earlier shot a 292, which coupled with his 293 from yesterday, gave him a total of 285. He qualified fourth best.
